The simplest option is to plug into the LAB router wired.
The complicated option is to swap the roles of the WiFi router and the LAB router, but if I'm reading your post correctly, that isn't possible. It would require a separate WiFi gateway and Internet modem, allowing you to put the hEX between them, to take over Internet routing. At that point, you could divide the HOME from the LAB in multiple ways: multiple bridges, VLANs, port isolation…
The only hope I have for allowing WiFi access to the LAB network using the network as currently laid out is if this presumed all-in-one modem/router/WiFi gateway is more configurable than you let on, allowing addition of a static route back into the LAB network. Which one is it?
