Hello
First post here and first time using any kind of Cell/Mobile internet client device such as Mikrotik antenna+modem and totally new to RouterOS.
I'm however well experienced with all things PC/Windows/Linux and Router configuration in general.
Initially, I was able to setup the ATL LTE18 kit. I was able to log in, changed the password, entered the SIM pin number, and it started working ... just for a little while.
I think I checked for updates, current version was 7.7 or something, it offered to upgrade to 7.12 I think while having the stable branch selected.
Something got bugged when I was navigating the WebFix, I had to relog-in, on other tabs, perhaps entered the old password, I don't know but I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, I didn't confirm any setting or started any upgrade, as far as I'm concerned I think it's some kind of a bug, but whatever happened the WebFig / WebGUI was left inaccessible, and so for other ways of configuring the router. SSH and Winbox don't work either.
I was doing this on EndeavourOS (Archlinux) with Firefox, connected directly to computer without any other network device. Tried on Windows 10 as well on a totally different computer, same problem.
I scanned with Wireshark and there seems to be recurring TCP retransmissions and basically no response from the ATL modem, after around 5-10 minutes it does display the login page, after entering the password the same non-responsive delay happens and after around 5-10 minutes it just displays the fresh login page again without any explanation.
The device does not seem to be able to reset or the procedure is different for this modem, the LED does not blink after 3 seconds, I will keep trying.
The device did not enter Etherboot mode for Netinstall on my first attempts either, just nothing happens.
The official RouterOS help seems to be a bit confusing across the board, signs of improper english are present everywhere, a bit of a terminology mixups or interchangible usage at times, and multiple different things/ways/options discussed at the same time, especially with Netinstall where it says at some point I noticed instructions to "enter BIOS on my PC and enable PXE boot", which is when I called it a day because that's probably not the correct path to go for what I'm trying to do here, it shouldn't be that complicated. It seems like Netinstall can do a number of things and I have
There is no device specific instructions for how to enter Etherboot mode in the offical RouterOS help section. The Netinstall page at some point mentions you have to "check with device specifics" but the hyperlink just jumps to the initial "Reset to Etherboot" common instruction on the same Netinstall page, giving no more information. Searching RouterOS for Ethermode doesn't find any better results either.
I'm not complaining as I'm used to this kind of stuff, but I never knew these devices are that advanced and complicated, definitely not meant for ordinary people without computer experience to be setting them up. I've only ever "used" a little PnP LTE-USB dongle for a few weeks, that's as close I came to wireless LTE internet before.
Thanks, I haven't contacted official support yet, but may soon have to soon, if it's completely bricked it needs to get replaced ASAP (I'm doing this for someone else).
