I know it is not "comme il faut", but I'm using PPTP to talk to my SmartDNSProxy provider - with RouterOS v6.49.10 (on my mAP lite) it is working fine, however, when I set it up on v7.13.3 on my fantastic new hAP ax3, then the tunnel is working fine, but the DNS isn't (and hence Android tells me "no Internet access" when I connect).
I have done some investigation and discovered that v7 is ignoring the "Use Peer DNS" in the PPTP Client settings, i.e. it makes no difference whether you specify "yes", "no" or "exclusively", with v7 you just get the "Static Server" and not the "Dynamic Servers".
E.g. in my setup where the Static Server is 192.168.89.1, and the Dynamic Servers are 192.168.1.1, 46.166.143.59 and 80.67.6.98:
With v7 I always just get 192.168.89.1, whereas with v6 I get 192.168.89.1 and 192.168.1.1 (if "no"), 192.168.89.1, 192.168.1.1, 46.166.143.59 and 80.67.6.98 (if "yes") and 192.168.89.1, 46.166.143.59 and 80.67.6.98 (if "exclusively").
P.S. I would have thought that "exclusively" would only have included 46.166.143.59 and 80.67.6.98, but I am not an expert
P.P.S. I discovered that in v7, I could no longer add a "New Routing Mark" in my IP > Firewall > Mangle rule - so I added "routing/table/add name = "vpn" fib" to create the new routing mark.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong (apart from using PPTP )
